It's a good idea to go over the PAST SIMPLE TENSE. We need to know our regular and irregular verbs in the past and the use of "Did" in questions and "didn't" for negative sentences:
Yesterday I watched a Christmas film.
Last year we didn't celebrate at home.
Did you get a lot of presents? -Yes, I did. -No, I didn't.
